If you want to completely restart your VEIN world, wipe all structures, player bases and world progress, you can reset the entire save in a few seconds. VEIN stores all world data in a single file called Server.vns. Deleting this file will force the server to generate a brand new world when it next starts.
Works on all HostByte VEIN servers. Updated for VEIN v0.022h8
Step 1 Stop Your Server
You must stop the server before deleting the world file to avoid corruption.
- Open your HostByte Game Panel
- Click Stop
- Wait for the server to fully shut down
Step 2 Open the SaveGames Folder
Your world file is stored inside the SaveGames directory.
Navigate through the File Manager:
/Vein/Saved/SaveGames
Inside this folder, you will see a file named:
Server.vns
Step 3 Delete the Server.vns File
To reset the world:
- Select Server.vns
- Click Delete
Important: Deleting this file wipes the world completely. All bases, items, and world progress will be removed. It's advised to make a backup if you want to use this world in the future.
Step 4 Start the Server
Now restart your VEIN server:
- Go back to the HostByte panel
- Click Start
VEIN will automatically generate a brand new world with default settings.
You now have a fresh world with no previous data.
Step 5 Optional: Back Up Your Old World
If you may want to restore your old world later, download a backup first.
- Right click Server.vns
- Click Download
You can re-upload this file at any time to restore the old world.
Troubleshooting
- New world did not generate: Make sure Server.vns was actually deleted.
- Server loads the old world: Check for duplicate .vns files in SaveGames.
- Players missing characters: Character data is stored separately and may also need wiping if you want a full reset.
