VEIN allows players to join servers through the public browser or by directly connecting to the IP and port shown on your HostByte Game Panel. This guide explains both methods, how to invite friends, and where to find your connection details.
Step 1 — Check Your Server Status
- Log in to your HostByte Game Panel.
- Click your server name (for example, VEIN Server).
- Ensure the status indicator is green and your server is running.
- If it’s stopped, click Start to power it on.

Step 2 — Locate Your Server IP and Port
Your connection details are displayed directly on your server’s overview page in the HostByte Game Panel.
- After opening your server (for example, “VEIN Server”), you'll find your IP click to copy it.
- Note your Server IP and Port — you’ll use these when joining or sharing your server with friends.
Step 3 — Joining Through the Public Server List
This is the simplest way to find your VEIN server once it’s online.
- Launch VEIN and click Join Multiplayer from the main menu.
- Use the Search Bar to look up your server name (the name set in Startup Parameters or
Game.ini). - Select your server and click Join.
Note: If your server doesn’t appear immediately, wait a few minutes after starting — VEIN’s public list takes time to refresh.
Step 4 — Joining by Direct IP (Friends or Private Servers)
If you’re playing privately or your server is hidden from the public list, use direct IP connection instead.
Option A — In-Game Console
- Open VEIN.
- Press ~ (tilde) to open the console.
- Type the following command, replacing with the IP and Port from your server page:
open YOUR.SERVER.IP:YOURPORT
- Press Enter to connect directly to your server.

- Open Steam → click View → Servers.
- Go to the Favorites tab.
- Click Add a Server and enter the IP and port you found on your HostByte server page.
- Once added, select it and click Connect.
Step 5 — Inviting Friends
You can invite friends to join your VEIN server easily using your IP and port information.
- Share your Server IP and Port (shown on your HostByte server overview).
- Friends can connect using the in-game console command:
open YOUR.SERVER.IP:YOURPORT
- Alternatively, they can add the server to their Steam Favorites list and join from there.
Step 6 — Adjust Server Settings
Before editing any files directly, always check your Startup Parameters in the HostByte panel. Many settings such as Difficulty, PvP and Time multipliers can be changed there quickly without touching Game.ini.
- Open your server in the panel.
- Select Startup Parameters.
- Adjust any available settings and click Save.
If you need to make more advanced changes, you can manually edit:
Vein/Saved/Config/LinuxServer/Game.ini
